Volunteers work 35 hours per week. Every month, a new work schedule is being designed by HR. Free days and holidays are easy to apply for and will be taken in consideration. It is possible to work less hours per week against compensational payment. Volunteers work in different branches:
- the hotel (reception, dining-hall, kitchen or housekeeping)
- the technical service (technical maintenance, garden or IT)
- the Center of Learning and Dialogue
- the general administration (management, office, HR, finance, bookkeeping or communication)
- the volunteers services.
In addition, volunteers can work a restricted number of so-called Work & Learn hours at social, educational or political institutions outside Nes Ammim.
Nes Ammim is famous for its rich study program for volunteers. It includes excursions (half day up to three days), lectures, encounters with local groups and experts, language courses such as Hebrew and Arabic and other classes. For an overview click here.
Depending on age, length of the stay and family situation Nes Ammim volunteers live in single rooms with shared bathrooms, studios with private bathroom and kitchen corner (called pavilions) or houses. All facilities are furnished and have access to a terrace and/or garden.
Every day volunteers are offered three meals in the communal dining hall. Bed linens and towels are provided and will be washed in the village laundry, as is private laundry. Nes Ammim owns three shared cars that can be rented at a small fee. Bikes can also be rented.
Public buildings and areas are maintained by dedicated volunteer staff and employees.
Staying in Nes Ammim means living and working together. Social life is influenced on the one hand by regular joint activities such as joint meals, bar evenings, study trips, church services, celebrations, etc. On the other hand, you will always find company for spontaneous activities such as going to the beach, playing soccer or volleyball, hiking, biking, visiting touristic spots, playing music, games, etc.
Nes Ammim has an ecumenical character, which welcomes people from all different Christian religious denominations. We expect that people take an active interest in our religious background and we encourage everyone to participate in church activities. We promote respect for people with other religious convictions. Our regular church services – in English – take place on Sunday evening.

As we are situated in the north of the country, people are sometimes concerned about their safety. Even at times of unrest and tension in Israel, life in Nes Ammim is very peaceful and life goes on as normal. During the night, a night watch takes care of the security. We have one person responsible for all security matters who is in close contact with an Israeli security adviser.
